Will I Fit On Dollywood Rides?

I have said it once or twice before in an article on this website that I absolutely love Dollywood. There is just something magical about the place that is just fantastic for a family vacation.

The location is beautiful, the park itself is beautiful, and the entertainment is top notch. It’s a fantastic park that is growing exceptionally fast. Proving to be true they even launched a brand new themed area in 2019, Wild Grove.

Dollywood is filled with roller coasters, amusement themed rides, and tons of shows that are designed to entertain the entire family. Our last trip was last summer, but we hope to get there again as soon as we can. We also hope on that trip we get to visit the water park as well.

Now On To the Rides, Did I fit On Any?

Before coming to Dollywood I was a little worried rides in this park. I remember them being tight from the first time I visited and I wasn’t anywhere close to the size and weight I am now.

But the last time I was there was over 20 Years Ago, So I didn’t know what to expect. But I was fine with it. The stress wasn’t as bad as It usually was because, I have moved pass the stress and the anxiety I use to get before going to theme parks. That’s old news, I embrace my size, and deal with the consequences. The only thing I was concerned with was the thought of not having much to keep me entertained during our visit. That proved to be a nonissue.

When I entered the park for the first time on this trip I was blown away, nothing looked familiar as the park has grown substantially. It was a true blessing and much more that I had hoped for. What an amazing job, the park is amazing.

Before I begin with my experiences on the ride, please understand that everyone carries their weight differently, just because I had issue with the ride does not mean you will. Your experience will vary. I am 5′ 11 1/2″ and 350 lbs. I carry most of my weight in my stomach, which is abnormal compared to the avg human being.

The Ride Results Are In…

Blazing Fury – This is an indoor dark ride that is on a track. This ride has been in the park for a while, but I’m not sure it was the same name and theme when I was there the first time. I had no idea what to expect when riding this ride, but took a flyer on if I could fit or not. When I got to the car it was a dual seating cart with a single lap bar. And I fit, the bar clicked and locked. So I am under the impression that if the bar clicks and locks you are good. The only problem was it was a little tight and my daughter had a lot of space between her and the bar, which did make me nervous, but she was still secure. I don’t see any problems with anyone on this one.

Chasing Rainbows – this isn’t necessarily a ride, but a museum and a cool place to learn about Dolly Parton. There are stairs in this attraction, but I found elevators to accommodate those who cannot walk. No issues here, you are just primarily walking and observing.

Dollywood Express – No issues on this train. Easy to sit on. There are no restraints. Compared to most theme parks, the carts and seats are bigger than normal. It is pretty comfortable to sit in. Just watch out for the soot. That can get into your eyes. So if you have glasses I suggest wearing them on this ride.

Firechaser Express – I did NOT get the opportunity to ride this one although I wanted too, it looks amazing. This was my daughters favorite ride. I saw some larger people get on this with no problem, so next trip I will give it a try. I’m leaving this in the list as I think I should have no issues with this one. Stay tuned…

Village Carousel – No issues here I usually just sit in the carts as I do on most carousels.

Our next visit might not be until next summer, but we are pretty sure we’ll fit in another trip to Dollywood. This time we hope to have more time and stay for a few more days to get more information on the park.

Just remember, Dollywood is more than just the rides, there are amazing shows all over the park. Entertainment is everywhere and it’s perfect for anyone no matter your size.
