Theme Park Food
Universal’s Studios Classic Monsters Cafe Food Review
This particular cafe has a little history with us. Particular it was one that we visited on our first few visits back in 2014 to the park, and one that we had the wonderful adventure with my wife’s mother who has passed a few years ago.
Because of which it’s kind of got a little historical place in our lives, which is why we will visit this place on any trip we have to the park. After all the park visit is about memories and experiences right? We have some good one’s there.
Like most dine in restaurants expect to lay down some money. Here is the same. For 3 people, we generally lay down $50 or more. This visit was no different. I believe with our pass discount, we still racked a bill over $50.
My daughter ordered the barbecue Chicken Pizza mega combo with water melon bites.
My wife ordered the chicken, brisket platter mega combo, with Brussels sprouts, mac n’ cheese, and water melon bites.
I ordered the Brisket & Sausage platter mega combo with Beans, Mac n’ cheese, and Peach cobbler with a coke.
My wife didn’t have any complaints on hers, other than she was hoping to get a chicken leg verses a breast. But was satisfied with her dinner.
My daughter’s Pizza took a little longer to arrive and they did under cook it. The dough was not completely cooked. She took a few bites but wasn’t overly happy with, we did take up to the clerk and they agreed that it was under-cooked. Instead of getting a new meal, she just got her Money back.
My daughter pretty much pecked away at our plates.
Mine however was pretty decent. Far better than what we have been getting at Disney. No Pun intended.
But the sausage had great flavor, the Brisket was fine, tender and juicy as it should be, the mac n’ cheese was decent, the beans were great. The peach cobbler on the other hand was fantastic.
Our Official Theme Park Food Score:
Our Score is 7.3
The food was decent for what I ordered as so the score is based on that. I cannot say what My daughter felt, although I have to believe her score would be in the low 4’s due to the meal being under cooked. But for the brisket, beans, sausage, cobbler, and mac n cheese, it was decent and a little above average for theme park food.
What I didn’t Like?
Even though the place was not busy at all when we visited. It still seemed like it took forever to get the food and then get the check out. The Girl at the check out was fine, but the process was just Slow. I felt like my meal would of been hotter if they could just streamline that process a little bit better.
The second thing is the food is already cooked and they just dish from under the lamps, you always sacrifice the quality of food when it’s like that and NOT exactly fresh out to the oven. You can get fresh depending on when they replace and you get, but still under lamp food, not always the greatest, but here was okay.
They just need to speed up the process from start to finish. It’s always better to be able to eat HOT food not food that is cooled due to a slow checkout line.
