Disney Without Magic Bands – When Should You Get them?

If you have been spending the late hours of your day researching your next Disney world trip, then you have probably discovered the Disney Magic bands.

These amazing little bands are pretty convenient when you are at the parks, but when is it the best time to get one or should you even waste any money on them.

Really it is a tough question. While there are many factors that could help determine if they are the best choice for you and your family or not.

If you are staying at A Disney Resort / Hotel the question probably doesn’t matter anyway as most of the time you will be getting them for free with your stay anyway.

But what about about for those that do not stay at a resort?

Again that will depend on your personal preferences and what your plans are at Disney…

What Are The Advantages To Having Disney Magic Bands?

• You can tie your Magic Bands to your Disney tickets and use them to enter the parks
• Use them to enter your fast pass lines.
• Add Disney PhotoPass Pictures To your Account
• Some Rides Will Read Your Magic Band and give you a Unique Experience like It’s A Small World, will read your band and show your name towards the end of the ride.
• If staying at a resort hotel, you can use it to unlock your room
• Add a card to use for purchases and dining in park and hotel.
• Ride photos appear in your account after you and your family ride the rides.

Questions To Ask Yourself When Deciding to Get or Not Get Magic Bands.

How long is your Disney Visit?

Are you only going for one day or multiple days? If multiple days, then maybe it would be a good idea. We found it to be easy to use than trying to carry around our tickets or card. It made accessing the parks super easy.

Verdict: Yes and NO – this is personal preference here. We love the ease of use of the bands so we decided to get them. You do not need to have them to go to the parks. But if you are going multiple days, it’s great for fast pass access and entering the parks + ride interactions for those that utilize them.

Will You be returning to Disney World?

If you plan on returning to Disney, then they may be well worth the purchase. I just see them getting better and becoming more useful as we move forward.

Do you like Disney Souvenirs?

I’m sure the answer to that question is YES, like the rest of us. So why not get the Disney Magic Bands, use them on your vacation then keep them as a keep sake. They are pretty affordable and even kind of look cool.
